  1. What if you're in a niche' that is a very small micro-genre where there isn't a huge amount of smaller bands, such as, new Grunge?
Binding yourself to a Niche' underground community is a lot more difficult in an extremely small sub-genre.
    Any advice?

  2. Hi Jesse, Just found your channel. Love it so far. I plan on watching all the videos. One of your videos you were asking for suggestions. If you want to address artist websites and mailing list to build audiences that would be cool

  3. Facebook conversion ads work in building real fans/followers (on both Facebook and Spotify). I'm not sure why you're down on Facebook ads. They can be expensive if done incorrectly, and they do require bit of technical work and backend monitoring, but it is relatively straightforward to see measurable results, and be free of private playlist curators.

  4. Not trying to sound like one of those paid testimonials and I apologize in advance if I do…I've been recording originals now for 21 + years, but only got serious about it in Nov 2020. Had 6 followers, and a good month would be if our entire (large) catalogue got in the double digits in Spotify streams. Facebook ads did jack, and I'd watched just about every black t shirt wearing YouTube music guru there is (is it a uniform or something?). No dice. Was close to giving up. I've learned so much from this channel, and no, I'm not going to say we're all of a sudden famous or anything. But since the beginning of last summer to now, we're now at 231 followers. Which isn't a lot, but it's been steady and consistent, and we now get around 8,000 streams a month (close to 600 released songs) with no promotion except community building on Twitter and putting one or two of our songs on playlists and surrounding them with songs in the same style from others (or as close to it as possible) and sharing them on Reddit, with a both an ad budget and recording budget of $0. Listening to feedback and having to be willing to accept hard truths at times helped too. So yeah…Jesse knows his sh*t

  5. Thanks! I’ve been following your recommendations for YouTube, Insta and TikTok for about two weeks now and the algorithms seem to slowly pick up on me being active. Friday is release day, so I hope it’ll push the single forward on Spotify.

  6. Loving you video! Thank you:)

You are so for algorithms but yet against Facebook ads … that doesn’t add up! 🙂 Facebook ads only reason is to trigger the algorithmic playlists. Think about that.

  7. Dude my music is good, but I have no money to promote myself, and it's been horrible trying to get individuals to listen. It's pay to play, you could be an ass sandwich and people will listen as long as their paid or inclined to think they should listen. Because someone else paid.

  8. A Jesse video a day keeps the mental break down away. Seriously though, I’ve watched music marketing videos for a year now (as I’m managing my partners career) the mental shift that your content has brought me in just a few videos, I mean.. gold. We’re not afraid of the work just needed some guidance. Thank you so much. I’ll be reporting back with wins after implement some of these changes.
