  1. I own master copies of never before released Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton etc., etc. These were done in practice sessions and my partner was a professional sound director. These recordings have never been heard except by me and two other people. I own the rights. What do you suggest?

  2. Can you recommend a video of yours if a artist has 0 fans? like I just made a song, nobody knows me, only friends from HS follow on social media but I want to put it out all platforms and reach an audience. Thank you!

  3. My problem with this is songs that make it into TikTok are generally repetitive, substanceless songs that only rely on a catchy hook. Those types of songs will not stand the test of time. Glass animals is the perfect example of that as well as that “radioactive” band. Those bands suck major ass.

  4. i may not always comment. but these videos are DIAMOND! i share them to all my artist friends. that's the best I can do for them. i know they don't watch because they don't apply what u suggest . but plz don't stop! this info is priceless

  5. Hey Jesse,

in the beginning of 2021 I released an album, which was considered to be the „greatest metal-newcommer“ 21 by magazines like metalhammer.
I had a feature from one of the most famous metal frontman of all time and still Spotify doesn’t give a single fuck about my music. I release singles, and EP‘s and do everything to please Spotify. My music is featured on all of the big private playlists but not on the editorials.
    I do this DIY.
Then you see bands that are signed to a label and even with way less streams and fans than my project getting featured on editorials. WTF?

  6. This was an awesome video! A great example of an artist who has benefited from some of the examples you're talking about is Jon Bellion. His song All Time Low took at least a year to really gain some traction if I recall. It felt like no one knew who he was and then all of a sudden that song was on the radio and now a bunch of people know his name. And then the song he did with Illenium, Good Things Fall Apart, has been remixed countless times and mashed up with other songs (Travis Barker remix for example) which has given that song a new life of its own.

And speaking of Nirvana, their song Something in the Way has now become one of their most popular, at least temporarily, thanks to The Batman movie. It really makes me think that people should look at their songs more like investments, something that can bring in more value over time, rather than a one-time opportunity to succeed.

  7. Great video! Thanks for the great advice! LOL R.Kelly lol nice dig! It’s wild how much TikTok has changed things… Ty

I recently deleted my old OLD material, but reuploaded the few songs that still hold up, as a “greatest hits”…

  8. Hey, I had a question about playlisting new releases. I'm wondering if when I do a release, if I should consider just paying a ton of promo for real playlisting (not bots)…is getting a ton of plays off a few big playlist placements enough to trigger the algorithm and get me into an Spotify or editorial one in a future release?

  9. Discovered you a few days ago! I’ve watched so many videos at this point! Thank you! This isn’t a marketing question so it might not be a full video but any suggestions on distributors that don’t blow? Thinking of making the switch from CD baby to maybe repost by SoundCloud because CD baby’s customer service is about as helpful as a car warranty scam call
