I own master copies of never before released Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton etc., etc. These were done in practice sessions and my partner was a professional sound director. These recordings have never been heard except by me and two other people. I own the rights. What do you suggest?
i believe the term is
“sleeper hit”
Or make an incredible, dope, bad ass new music video or attach the song to another venture, movie, club, movement somehow giving it new life?
That r Kelly joke 🤣
Hey Jesse I'm really glad I stumbled across your content Very good and informative
This video is a cheat code. Extremely underrated
Hahaha Your videos are informative and highly entertaining! Thank you! 😄
"Who goes there? It's the ghost of october"
You're a real one Jesse for showing love to genres Hyperpop and Cloudrap. That is integrity!
Was there a video on how to hire and fi d the influencers?
1 thing about music is it's art n art is subjective. If u have old music u can still make it happen. Maybe u can remaster or redo adlibs or chorus.
Great minds think alike.
Can you recommend a video of yours if a artist has 0 fans? like I just made a song, nobody knows me, only friends from HS follow on social media but I want to put it out all platforms and reach an audience. Thank you!
That r Kelly line made me spit out my coffee 😆
Bro you have my favourite artist on your PC behind you 😭😭😭 go see drain gang while they are in the states you won’t be let down! Helpful insightful video btw
“You may have noticed…” That you’ve been going to the gym?? Looking great bud!
My problem with this is songs that make it into TikTok are generally repetitive, substanceless songs that only rely on a catchy hook. Those types of songs will not stand the test of time. Glass animals is the perfect example of that as well as that “radioactive” band. Those bands suck major ass.
Thanks for the great content : )
Great video!! Thanks Jesse.
Sorry if I’ve missed you answer this, but what was your connection to Senses Fail? They were a huuuge part of my angsty teen years lol.
I am now checking out some of your tik tok videos, too.
I'm going to use this idea – great. thanks so much
That R Kelley joke is actually mad lmao
I think old songs -> new fans is the goal here
Could you make a video on signing with a label/management and the benefits of that vs being independent?
Eversince > Everything else Bladee, this is why you listen to Jesse people, he knows
Yess thanks dude! On my yt channel I’m gonna try to help out more independent artist as well
If you wanna go deeper on collaborations features and remixes on a way to reignite your music watch this https://youtu.be/DKGj6NNSjDE
i may not always comment. but these videos are DIAMOND! i share them to all my artist friends. that's the best I can do for them. i know they don't watch because they don't apply what u suggest . but plz don't stop! this info is priceless
Paying attention…
Hey Jesse,
in the beginning of 2021 I released an album, which was considered to be the „greatest metal-newcommer“ 21 by magazines like metalhammer.
I had a feature from one of the most famous metal frontman of all time and still Spotify doesn’t give a single fuck about my music. I release singles, and EP‘s and do everything to please Spotify. My music is featured on all of the big private playlists but not on the editorials.
I do this DIY.
Then you see bands that are signed to a label and even with way less streams and fans than my project getting featured on editorials. WTF?
I like the Henry Cow approach.
This was an awesome video! A great example of an artist who has benefited from some of the examples you're talking about is Jon Bellion. His song All Time Low took at least a year to really gain some traction if I recall. It felt like no one knew who he was and then all of a sudden that song was on the radio and now a bunch of people know his name. And then the song he did with Illenium, Good Things Fall Apart, has been remixed countless times and mashed up with other songs (Travis Barker remix for example) which has given that song a new life of its own.
And speaking of Nirvana, their song Something in the Way has now become one of their most popular, at least temporarily, thanks to The Batman movie. It really makes me think that people should look at their songs more like investments, something that can bring in more value over time, rather than a one-time opportunity to succeed.
Great video! Thanks for the great advice! LOL R.Kelly lol nice dig! It’s wild how much TikTok has changed things… Ty
I recently deleted my old OLD material, but reuploaded the few songs that still hold up, as a “greatest hits”…
Great topic! I got all these old albums in the basement I need to promote
Hey, I had a question about playlisting new releases. I'm wondering if when I do a release, if I should consider just paying a ton of promo for real playlisting (not bots)…is getting a ton of plays off a few big playlist placements enough to trigger the algorithm and get me into an Spotify or editorial one in a future release?
Discovered you a few days ago! I’ve watched so many videos at this point! Thank you! This isn’t a marketing question so it might not be a full video but any suggestions on distributors that don’t blow? Thinking of making the switch from CD baby to maybe repost by SoundCloud because CD baby’s customer service is about as helpful as a car warranty scam call
R. Kelly’s back stage area 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
This info will be very usefull these days
