What’s your opinion about microsites who target specific topics? Let’s say, a keyword like ‘spy cam for nanny’ and the domain name spycamfornanny.com, is it bad?

My self i have created 10 sites for seo services & web design but i link them all to 2 of my main sites 1 is for bigger budget seo the other is for billing / support they are ranking ok, but i am still working on these and need to provide a different experience for each site and i am targeting different keywords for each site. I am worried though as 1 site keeps outranking the others my oldest seo site i suspect this is because they are all using the same template though the content is not exactly the same. If anyone has any tips please let me know as i do not know everything and never will, i am stalking Matt Cutts videos! From this video i get a clear message that high quality relevant and unique content is the key but how about the sites looking similar as it is hard to design so many sites using different templates etc. As mentioned above i do use the same template but i edit it according to the sites keywords and domain name and do not use the exact same content. Though on the sites some of the content is the same eg: the ordering process is exactly the same and i think this could be hurting the sites? Maybe answering my own question: Using completely 100% unique content and templates would be a step in the right direction? Though i am still unsure and wonder if the order process content can be the same on all 10 sites? This maybe seen as duplicate content?
Matt, are you responding to questions here? If I have 500 word press websites around one large niche and each site has 25-80 quality unique and helpful articles on them. What is the best way to close down those sites, and move all that content to 1 site? Do I need to use the site move feature for EACH site, or let the domain expire and move the content. I agree with you that I have not "loved on" these smaller sites as much as my bigger sites. Need to know how to consolidate them all. Thank you
I agree but I also would have a page reviewing the nanny cam but I would by the domain name and just have it forwarded to that particular page on my authority review site.
