Search intent represents the reason behind a searcher’s query.
Matching search intent is important to show search engines that your page will fulfill their goal, which is to deliver the most relevant results for any given query.
And while it might sound like you’re trying to satisfy Google, what you’re actually doing is learning what you need to do to satisfy the searcher’s intent.
Identifying search intent is usually quite easy. All you have to do is search for the keyword you want to rank for and then analyze the top-ranking results. And the top-ranking results are a great proxy to understand search intent because Google understands what searchers want, probably more than anyone else.
But how do you analyze the top-ranking results?
You can use a simple formula we call the 3 Cs’ of search intent. And you’ll learn how to use this formula to analyze search intent in this video.

Excellent.
Amazing! Your way of teaching is really amazing and easy to understand.
What are the differences between how-to guides and step-by-step tutorials?
Few days ago I wrote a keyword in the google search box to know about it . The keyword is " What is Thread ?" Google showed only about the programming realated Thread article but I need to know SEO related Thread article. I didn't understand why google showed me only one type of Thread Article link? Why not both type article ? @Ahrefs
I am in love with this channel 😍
Thank you very much for providing us this kind of content
Please complete the last example of Golf bags in this video where we need to make the educated decision about its intent . I am really stuck in my keyword research due to these types of mixed results in SERP and can't decide the intent.
So as far as the angle goes, is the idea to match the same angle that everyone else is using since they've proven it works, or is the idea to find a new/fresher/better angle?
this content is awesome, it would be great if it could be divided into chapter. awesome
This content is gold. Thanks for putting this out!
Sorry, I have a question. What is the meaning of SERP? Thanks, great content
what do you think about ai content creation?
Greatest content ever, thanks for this sir!
Ahh, the three C's. Content, content, and content. That's easy to remember. How about calling it FAT content or something easier to differentiate?
Can you pleases maker the videos a bit slow ??
Thanks!
it seems there are standard types of search intent (?) I think this video could benefit by explicitly listing them otherwise it's just a series of examples that are hard to tie together in a practical way.
how are you able to determine what kind of content type it is so fast just by looking at the SERP. I think SEMRush gives it away in the tool, is there something I'm not looking at here for you to see the content type or you're just experienced and know what kind of posts they are that quick?
Beautiful
I never fully grasped how important searcher intent is until now.
SEO will always be relevant.
Thanks for insights.
for the niche I’m thinking of for my affiliate marketing website, almost all the keywords I search for always have question and answer results like quora, reddit, and some more, and I want to make blog articles, is this good, bad, what should I do?
Really helpful breakdown of search intent and how to approach keyword research! Looking forward to Part 2 and learning more about navigating those mixed intent SERPs.
This really clarifies how to structure keyword research around user needs, not just potential traffic. Thanks for making search intent so approachable!
It was very interesting
Finally, a video that emphasizes why people are searching, not just what they're searching! This shift in perspective is a game-changer for my SEO strategy. Eagerly anticipating more insights in Part 2!
This video is a great reminder that truly understanding the "why" behind the search is the foundation for any successful SEO campaign. I'm already rethinking my approach to keyword research; looking forward to Part 2!
I realize this vid was created 4 years ago but I'm new here. Your opinion is that the "freshness angle" was the least important & consistent among top ranking pages. Well, maybe in a search for "best golf shoes", but in a search for tutorials I believe it is very relevant. Speaking from recent personal experience, my search for a SEO fundamentals tutorial has been abysmal. I get poor search results because, with the internet evolving at lightening speed, most of them are irrelevant. If you had put 2024 or 2025 in your title I would have clicked on your video in a heartbeat. BTW – glad I finally found you. Excellent tutorials ! Thanks 😉

Great point about understanding the "why" before the "what" – it's refreshing to see SEO approached with genuine user needs in mind! Eager to see practical examples of addressing different search intents in Part 2.
Finally understanding the "why" behind the search query makes SEO feel less like a guessing game and more like actually connecting people with solutions. Eager for Part 2 to see how to put this into action!
Finally, a straightforward explanation of search intent that emphasizes its fundamental role in effective SEO. Looking forward to Part 2 to learn how to practically apply this understanding to real-world scenarios and complex keywords.
