Pulkit Agrawal in Ahmedabad, India asks: “Can you please tell us:
a) How many changes did Google make to their primary search algorithm in 2009 till date?
b) Is content still the king or something else (structure) has taken over? This is some big buzz in the Internet community.”

It is amazing how the numbers posted on the video keep growing as years go by. This just proves that search engines will not stop improving their work. It does not matter whether they are already the best or not. For the sake of the people, they should apply better and more accurate algorithms.
Could you tell me how algorithm's work with digital download sites that sell music? I know there are lot's of ways to manipulate sales and what goes where, but how and when can you tell if the stats are REALLY wrong and they are only changing algorithms to make sales and help who they want?
thanks ,that was were i am with the content matters and then maby turn on the world ,thanks ,peace
hahaa did he get out of jail recently. I am sorry, but it just seems as Googles image increases, Matt Cutts image is decreasing. He looked like a normal guy , giving some tips but now he just looks likes a hobo
I think content is not king. i found pages wich have only a 1 line of text with title and the rest only adsense… and are on first page of google search result
The answer is, in short, content is not king.
You make changes to the Google algorithm everyday? An amazing insight into the evolution rate of Google search change. Also as a stockholder of Google, it is really refreshing to have a company so "open to the public" about their business process, something I have never seen from Apple or Microsoft.
then content is still king but links are important as well , it is safe to say that a full synergy of these two parameters will result in better rankings…
Note that Matt doesn't say "Yes, content is still King". He says "content is… (slight pause) necessary". So I'll take that as a no 🙂
Matt teaches once again: Google is not a god, first common sense, second optimization; create your unique, relevant content and after that do your SEO effort.
(you have budget? hire SEO from beginning 😉
Tnx Matt
So content is queen then? heir?
Thanks matt for this video 😉
