This interview might have just changed the direction of my career thanks Jesse
Loved this interview. Thanks for doing this Jesse!
How did you have a booking agent, with no history of touring?

Why don't you make your own coin on mintme.com?
this is a sick interview for any musician/artist/band to check out , thanks
Bartees is dope!
Saw him on Tiny Desk. Great vibe, great arrangements and great voice. Very refreshing.
Very informative podcast, Jesse. Thank you for this!
it's great thank you
5 minutes in and I know I gotta get blazed and grab a notepad. Gonna be a killer interview.
Hope to see more of these, you're a really good interviewer Jesse. Helps you guys are friends. But you know what you're doing, overall really, and it's some refreshing professionalism.
Glad I found this channel, ready to learn and apply.😤
Jesse, this is great. Was just introduced to you via Bartees' Tweet flow. Love his work.
"If nobody's gonna like it but me – cool – f*ck y'all" Great to hear. I say this everyday when I step up to my mic. I have to in order to proceed freely, unencumbered by crap thinking.
This was really interesting, congratulations to Bartees on his success.
Regarding building a community; how do you do this if the main forums for your niche/genre e.g. Facebook groups, consists entirely of bands spamming each other with their links, and no conversation/ non-band people?
He seems like a beautiful person. Also lots of inspiring nuggets here. Lots of food for thought. Thanks for sharing
Jesse! Man this was good,so chill,so down to earth and full of great insight. What an incredible story, just shows you what can happen with great music and the right efforts. Great episode man
wow jesse with a beard
I remember seeing him play a show a couple years ago at the grape room, and it was amazing. Super nice person. It’s been cool to watch the come up since then!
So much fucking yes! Bartees is the real deal and I've LOVED seeing him blow up this past year… especially in a genre that felt so devoid of black people. So excited to hear Jesse pick his brains a lil😁😁😁😁
I saw him on NPR Tiny Desk and was immediately captivated by his songs, what a great interview
Wow I used to play festivals and basement shows with Bartees. I'm so excited to watch this!!!! Homework for sure.
great conversation and most helpful. I have viewed many of your videos and I especially like your ability to push the crap off the table and get to what's really happening. Last week at age 66 I made what can be considered as the biggest drop in online music history, 62 songs, a list of 30 songs recorded with lyrics all set up for vocals, 15 webpages and 6 hours of video. This is the result of a 30 year pursuit while at the same time moving a professional and personal life forward. As a non performing songwriter my expectations are realistic but modern music distribution and the emphasis on character and content is promising. Before committing to a platform I still need to further educate myself on the opportunities that exist. I would be interested in more of your thoughts on this subject. As it stands now, in the press release I made it clear that for now this world class art is available to all, no ads, no buy buttons, no algorithms, don't have to like, subscribe or sign in, visit when you like . . . http://www.hittingthemark.art . . . Finally, the mission statement in my studio is simple, be honest, be expressive, staying true to this always results in art I can be proud of, keep up the great work! Thanks.
