  1. Hello, Jesse, Great content I subscribed. I am a darkwave musician and also run a Youtube channel.
It is great to get connected to people. I have not worked on my Spotify at all. I been watching your video's on how. Thank you for the fantastic content. And thanks for no BS.

  2. Will you address the best methods for driving traffic to one's YouTube channel? (Especially new ones). Certain social campaigns, building pixel traffic for lookalikes, etc. or is it entirely organic, community based?

  3. thank god. vulnerability is literally my favorite thing. Here's something vulnerable. I literally have to poop every first block of online school. And I usually miss like 10 minutes of instruction. Its literally a pain in the ass (Haha)

  4. Hey! I love all your videos. I was wondering if you thought it was entirely required for “the band” to have one social media page? Both me (instrumentalist) and singer have a built in fan base that supports us monetarily and we’re worried about over saturated content by posting on 3 pages that most people would see on the other 2.

  5. This is a great video, but it gave me a moment of real self-doubt. I love making music, but I'm not sure that I want people to see right into my life, and see my personality up close like some of the artists in this video. I'm not sure people would really like me or feel any kind of real connection. If I was to try and make thta kind of intimate content I'd just have socially awkward Radiohead lyrics running through my head the whole time.

So far the only video on my band's YouTube is a spacey video made from stock footage. Was lucky enough to know a video creator who likes our music and wanted to work with us. This fits the band perfectly, as it's a space rock band making music about outer space. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsJjdNE-ZYg

You got any advice on YouTube for musicians who want to be more enigmatic? Your videos on promotion are great, and I'm trying to employ the advice on Spotify. It's far better than any other content I've found on this topic. Not had a lot of success yet, but going to keep grinding.

  6. What is the strategy if you have 0 followers on youtube? I can imagine making regular content even for a tiny fan base to engage with, but how do you engage with nobody? New channels on youtube are ghost towns because of the youtube algorithm, and consistently making content that reaches nobody seems unproductive.

  7. I've been trying to tell the bands I work with this for YEARS. It's funny because when I suggest this to bands I get the same feedback of "I want to be taken seriously and not be a cringey YouTuber" or "I can't find the time" which I feel is a big cop-out when you have cavetown and wallows making videos of things they would already be doing in their everyday lives. Thanks Jesse for another great video. Def going to be sharing this one around a lot.
