  1. What if the music that you make, that you love and inspires you… bores to tears 99.99% of the people who listen to streaming music? If it’s not happy, 3 minute pop music, dancey-dance, rap or a cheesy love song, your song will never be heard by a living being. So, yes- you had better enjoy listening to your own unusual music, because no one else will.

  2. I mean this is great and is what I’ve always done but does it work well in a single’s market? If I had my way I’d just make my weird albums all day long but it seems if one wants to advance their career, they have to be ultra genre focused, and singles minded which is to say hyper trend focused.

  3. "The choice between doing what the fan base wants versus what your heart is telling you to do is often framed as safe vs risky, but to find what the heart wants is the riskiest move of them all"
    Damn, well said bro

  4. Spot on analysis. I've never understood the attitude of people making music for anyone other than themselves. Even when an artist says "doing it for the kids", I assume those kids must be cut from the same cloth as the artist.

  5. this is huge. love your content and the way you say everything straight up. 100% agree with this-music without emotion is completely a waste, it doesn't matter how good your kick and bass mesh if the song carries 0 emotion, I've been doing music for a year now and just now finally learning to separate the technical stuff from the actual art and transfer of emotions and it makes a world a difference
