Should You Tease Songs To Get MILLIONS Of Streams?

Music Marketer Jesse Cannon explores the benefits and drawbacks of teasing your music before its official release. Dustin Boyer & Matt Bacon join him to discuss the impact of pre-release promotion, especially for smaller artists with under a million Spotify monthly listeners. They debate the effectiveness of teasing songs, provide insights on how to gauge audience engagement through content, and emphasize the importance of having content ready if a song goes viral. Additionally, the video touches upon the differences in strategies suitable for established artists versus emerging ones and the role of real-time consumer research in determining potential hits.

  1. You say your customers are major labels.
    Your channel is years old.
Yet you're depending on patrion for the channel to exist ? You're not even at 100k subs.
I can do a little basic arithmetic.
You're lying about something here … especially since most of your posts are just ads for services… levels of con…

If you're not autistic you will automatically tease or not tease the right amount by feel. Or you know .. express yourself…
Trying to turn natural human trends into a formula right now is just silly. It's not working even for well established bands. I seen them try and spend endless amount on advertising only to be forgotten in two weeks.
Trying to squeeze the most out of loyal fans just leads to an end. Instead take opportunity of the seasonal changes and current flavour which is obvious and free for everyone to observe. Maths disconnected from reality leads to tragedy.
You're trying to squeeze money out of people who have no idea how humans work but have enough dispensable cash to pay you for their "I wanna be a rockstar" dreams…
Reminds of those fantasy football camps

  2. So i response to Dustin, what’s the point in teasing them simultaneously and not having them released if they’re all ready to go? If you tease them all and only one does well then doesn’t it sort of negate the point of releasing the rest of them? Whereas if they’re all released and you just release content for them all simultaneously then anyone who likes any of them can go over and listen to any of them?

  3. these days, there is nothing wrong with recycling and repurposing content you’ve already posted. if you’re independent, share your music as much as possible. tease it as much as possible. then those videos you already posted, you can post again. it’s about reaching people who’ve never seen you before

  4. THANK you! DK Online Music Academy is of the mind that you should tease the single every day 2 weeks up to the release, and as a consumer I would already be sick of hearing it at that point.

  5. Yeah, it really is a shame when content is being posted and it does really well, yet the song isn’t even out. Love the idea of playing music to a pool of people who enjoy your genre to get an idea of what to release next. (Using Discord feedback threads, asking your music friends, etc).

  6. Can you please make a video on pre saves. I know you have recently been saying they don't work at all but I feel like they do if you get a good amount of them. I have seen artist tease a song for a month and get thousands of pre saves. And to my knowledge those pre saves trigger the algorithm. Thank you.
