NFTs Will Change The Music Business More Than Spotify Did

How I see NFTs changing music and the music business and how it will become one of the main income streams for musicians.

I break down:
► What NFTs will be for music musicians and what they will be selling
► How NFTs will roll out starting with art and moving to music, live show experiences etc.
► Why selling master files of song will become the marketplace and a huge profit model that will dominate the music business.
► Why people are wrong about using trading cards for music sales.
► Are NFTs in music just a trend?
► How will NFTs help DIY musicians?

  1. I also find it funny how you bemoan Capitalism & Grifting when I could just as easily say that NFTs are probably the biggest grift right now. And there’s no question that it’s the result of a capitalist economy. Like, come on be for real. Emily Lazar of the rock band September Mourning has spent her time in NFT Twitter spaces complaining about capitalism and how it’s “ruined society” even though she’s DEEP in the NFT/Crypto space and utilizing NFTs for monetary/personal gain and living the most bougie LA lifestyle ever. I can’t think of anything more capitalist than that.

  2. Also, if artists are so worried about a middleman taking a lot of the money, from music, Bandcamp already exists. Whenever a musician sells a song on Bandcamp, 100% of the profits go to the artist. So I guess my question is, what makes NFTs superior to bandcamp?

  3. My feelings about the NFT space, and crypto, in general is very mixed. I am personally not interested in partaking in the whole crypto/NFT space. I have a couple issues that I think should be pointed out. 1: the people who essentially gaslight/manipulate you into thinking that you’re failing as a musician if you don’t partake in Crypto/NFTs. I can’t fucking stand these people it’s ugly behavior and it gives the overall space a bad look. 2: The people who claim that they partake in the space because they supposedly care about musicians and artists in general. Call me a cynic, call me a skeptic, call me what you will, I DON’T BUY IT. Humans are inherently selfish in nature. It’s our default state of being. I’m pretty sure the musicians who partake in the Crypto/NFT space are hoping that THEY get something out of it, as opposed to helping art and artists in general. Feel free to prove me wrong but from my perspective, whenever an artist of any kind say that they care about the wellbeing of artists and that’s why they’re partaking in Crypto/NFTs it seems insincere, fake and disingenuous. There’s a whole video on YouTube that I feel like highlights a lot of the flaws of the NFT space called “Why NFTs Deserved to Die” that’s particularly worth watching.

  4. Just found your channel and am going to watch all your videos. ☺️ I was wondering which platform do you think is the best one to sell NFTs for musicians? I’ve watched a few videos and nothing is standing out. Been on a few and still not sure. Everyone seems to have opinions but there is no consistency… I would love your opinion.

  5. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand how there's literally any value whatsoever in selling a song NFT. There's literally is NO inherent value if you can stream the song for free, and buy a lossless file. Fundamentally, it can't possibly offer anything more than a $1.99 lossless file bought on Apple Music. It seems like it's something that can only possibly appeal to someone who doesn't understand this, and/or somebody with too much money making a blind "investment". Or a rich kid chasing clout in the very short term.

Again, maybe I'm missing something. but this sounds like a bubble destined to bust early because there is literally no value for the consumer other than speculation. At best, this will become a way for artists to scam rich people out of their money.
