How To Grow Your Plumbing Business and Get More Customers

What’s up, guys? It’s Danny from SYSPRO Innovation. Thank you so much for watching this video. In this video, I’m going to explain something a lot of you have been asking me for a while: how to get more plumbing leads.

Many of you know I have multiple clients in the plumbing industry, from New York all the way down to Florida and up to Washington State. We get them leads the same way in every area of the United States. We also have a couple of clients in Canada.

A lot of plumbing professionals have been doing this for 20 or 25 years and still rely solely on referrals. They are not looking to get new customers. This is where you can gain an advantage.

Why do I have Google up ahead? Put yourself in the customer’s shoes in 2019. There are no phone books or yellow pages coming to the house anymore. Customers only have their cell phones. If a customer has a leak, a clog problem, or needs a new water heater, they will just go into their phone and search for “plumber near me,” “plumber city and state,” “water heater install,” “water heater professional,” etc. The leads are right in front of you, and many of you are not taking advantage of it, especially those who have been in the industry for a long time.

Danny, I don’t get it. I’ve been open for 25 years, and work hasn’t been this slow. I see new plumbers come out and succeed online, and I just don’t get it. It’s because you’re not online. Everything is Amazon, Alexa, and online now. Everything is about reviews. If you’re not online, customers cannot find you or get any details about your company, and they won’t buy from you.

Now, this is for the hungry veterans who are saying, “I’m good with my referrals.” This is not for you. This is for people who are starting out, those who don’t have a client base, and even those who have a clientele but want new work coming in. Let’s say you made $500,000 last year and want to hit $1 million. You have to be present in your market. You need to figure out some lead generation options for new clients to come in.

Let’s go to “plumber Staten Island, New York.” This is what I would search if something was leaking in my house or if I needed a water heater repair. You’re going to see three businesses: Precise Plumbing, Scaran, and P & C. I want you to do this on your phone. If you have an iPhone, go to Safari. If you’re on Android, go to Google. It’s going to come up the same way for your local customers.

If you’re a business owner, let’s see where you are located. Let’s see if you actually come up in the area for your service keyword, not just your business name. If you search for “Rob’s Plumbing,” it will come up, but nobody is looking for your business name. They are looking for services like “water heater repair,” “plumbing services,” “plumber near me,” etc. You are not McDonald’s or Burger King; people won’t just think of your name and search for you. They will search for your services first.

For “water heater repair,” you have Precise, Scaran, and P & C Plumbing Heating. These guys are killing it because they are getting all the online calls. Customers are choosing between these three. Precise has 154 reviews, and Scaran has 36. Whoever is working on Scaran’s SEO and marketing is not doing a great job because their competitors have 159 and 154 reviews. As a customer, who would you pick? I know I wouldn’t pick the one with 36 reviews. This is how your customer thinks. You have to put yourself in their shoes.

They also look at the stars: 4.9, 4.1, 4.6. I’m going to go with the 4.9. Precise is number one. Then you have the organic listings underneath. This is your website, Yelp, and other listings that supercharge your SEO. Precise Plumbing is killing it because they come up for these services.

What I offer as a lead generation specialist is different. Instead of paying an SEO agency $2,500 to $3,500 a month, which often requires a contract, we build a generic plumbing business in your area and send you the calls. I want to leave my company and do water heater installs.” We took him from zero calls to 143 calls a month. As a business owner, you would love another 100 calls a month. It’s a no-brainer.

Remember, a business has multiple doors for customers to come in. We’re just one door, but it’s a good door. We do this for you, and at the end of the month, we send you a list of calls. You write us a check with a smile on your face compared to other companies where you pay $600 a month and only get one job.
