  1. You had me laughing at Brakence because I do not know how to pronounce his name either but I do know how to spell it and I think that's what matters.
I love that dude's music as well as Glaive. So iconic.

  2. I’m a solo artist. I write, produce, play all the instruments, mix, master etc. I think I fall into the pop/rock/country/earthy/ categories (well, that’s how I see myself). I have some previous releases under my actual name but frankly, it’s pretty uninspiring (Darren Turner). I am making 2024 the year I get serious about promoting my music and want to do a relaunch because virtually no one knows who I am. I have been drawn to the name “One Trick Pony”. I’d love some feedback before I make the leap, cause I have zero idea what I’m doing when it comes to promoting my music :/

  3. My real name is Berenice and my second name is Marguerite. These are Afrikaans and French, I'm not even gonna try and explain how to pronounce it correctly. So now I came up with something completely different.

What do you think of the name "ForgettingVenus"?

  4. So I go by ghostii. Now there are two bigger artists making similar music, one named Ghostie and one named Ghosty. Should I change my name? I have no idea what to change it to either and it took me years just to get to ghostii

  5. My brother Chris is a visual artist and singer. He has been known by a certain moniker for several years, but now there is an EDM artist with the same name.

In my view, the EDM Chris has a stronger claim since the name is allegedly on his birth certificate, and his work has an actual footprint in online retailers and music blogs. While my brother has a longer history using the name online, he also has a long history of deleting music projects and changing his social media handles on a whim.

My brother was in a short-lived and ill-fated management situation, where they tried to use C&D to scare off the other Chris. 😒 That did not work, and they've remained in this inconvenient stalemate for years.

  6. My question is If you started a band, played in that band for years and gained a following, but everybody else quits, do you think it would be wise to continue to release music under that band's name? Or should you just begin a career as an independent artist? Note: I wrote all the music for my band since the beginning (none of the lyrics as I am a musician, not a vocalist), and I don't want to part from the years of hard work on this project that I have put into it.

  7. How to accept a stage name? I want a stage name different from my usual name because of privacy and I think its not artistic, but I don't feel good or connected with any stage name out there. How do we do it?

  8. Its so frustrating. Ive had a name for my project that fitted perfectly, and ive had it for maybe a year or so. For some reason i was too stupid to check spotify before becoming attached to the name. It fits what i wanted to do so well, but i cant use something thats already being used by multiple people on spotify. Arrgghh

  9. I've been using a stage name for years just because my real name is hard to pronounce. Sometimes it gets confusing when getting paid. Will this cause any problems when joining ASCAP, BMI or any other sources of royalties?

  10. I need some help, I make indie music, I don't know how my name sounds(just looking for an aesthetic name), is generic?. what opinion would you give me?

  11. Can you comment on my idea?

I was thinking of the name Trippy Restrepo but I'm a lil unsure about it. As you can probably already guess from the "trippy" part, I want to make psychedelic/shoegaze/dreamy type of music and the Restrepo part is my last name. I think it stands out pretty well especially because of me putting my last name on it but I'm not a big fan of the trippy part. I feel like it sounds really generic and poppy which is the last thing I want. Any suggestions?

  12. So I'm a rapper and I've been having this problem aswell. Like there's lil baby and dababy baby keem and for me I feel like I should use my name Jason in all caps but Idk if ill get sued by Jason Derulo or Jason Mraz.
