Can I use the same URL shorteners for all of my backlinks? Can Penguin (or other algorithm) kill me with repeated URL shorteners?

URL shorteners are in such common use today. It's good to know that the anchor text, etc is passed on with the link.

The phrase "data feed" is rather intriguing. Does he mean a twitter RSS feed? Or maybe something like blogger where I have seen my pages in the index before Googlebot has visited the page (ergo, they must be crawling my RSS feed).
Matt, you mentioned anchor text through the URL shortners, but what anchor text are you going to get from a bit.ly url? Is it safe to say that GG looks at the remainder of the tweet for keyword signals?

Thanks for answering my question Matt… question was asked to me by a client.. if I get a custom URL shortener for my biz.. will the custom text count as anchor text on my links?
So if they setup widget.ly… can they get Google to count widget as anchor text on the original link being shared.
