It needs to be portable
Nope! Don't want it!
With 54 years' experience in audio reproduction. I am fully annoyed at these claims of what sounds Great. Using terms like "warmer" or Colder?? WTF does a temperature have to do with sound, I assume your referring to warm= highs rolled off mids pumped up and bass turned up. Cold??? ok crank the treble and lower the bass and mids, , STOP TRYING TO COMPARE SOUND WITH TOUCH TERMINOLOGY,
And one person's opinion of what sounds good is relevant to the LISTENERS hearing NOT whats recorded, I have thousands of examples of people enjoying cheap speakers and hating the so called Best! , If you want t pay 1.7 MILLLION dollars on this "new" format, feel free, But my opinion is you're an easily conned idiot and tone def,
I’m actually really looking forward to seeing this product come to market. We need a high-grade audio format like this for archival purposes.
I really think it was a belated aprils fool.
Did anyone ever show you what a bobblehead looks like on a rocky road in a four-wheel drive? Your head bobs are so frustrating.
you bring up good points {though a bit harsh on NY's efforts to bring attention to crappy audio reproduction. at least you made a few $s on it, eh?}. I am a skeptic, so in analyzing these kinda efforts (complex technology aimed at some general or niche consumer audience) I advise delineating the technical assertions from the biz model & its unfolding plan. a "tell" is that while the announcement describes the traditional playback technique, it doesn't simply state, "you can play this via your existing cartridge, turntable & phono preamp circuit (w/ RIAA curve? maybe there's magic there, & the RIAA has been eliminated or modded, enabling a claim of "…different! better! & here's our little box you also get to buy from us…" … or maybe light reflecting off the surface is prismatically mesmerizing). I hope you keep up on this, w/ help from your friends in physics / EE / psycho-acoustics / audio technology.
no. its not.
Have a shoot out with the formats.
It will still have the same mechanical shortcomings vinyl has…surface erosion…so every time you play that album, the quality degrades very slightly.
I don't really know if that product is better than both cd, vinyl or even digital sound, i would like to give it a try and see. Although my hopes aren't high enough for this. But I'll have to agree on something, analog sound is more alive than digital. That "shhh" sound vinyl does is awesome.
how about the player? what is the name of this player? ionic disc player IDP_? really?
I'm wondering if there is any similarity to Rebeat HD Vinyl technology 🤔
Is this a division of Fisher Price? Pinnacle?? Yes, the pinnacle of bullshit.
Interesting for sure, but I believe his "this is a painting" comment flew right over your head. And, 24-bit means nothing.
How do you play these things? Can you play them on a regular record player? Also not a "painting", more like a art print.
Weird attempt at a high-resolution format.
Why is harmonic complexity always meaning distortion? Can't that also imply harmonic overtones, sympathetic resonance, feedback, reverb, decay, etc etc?
It doesn't seem like you understood it at all. Also Ionic not Iconic!
If you would like to react to an artist you might not have heard of, I recommend Aesthetic Perfection with Gods and Gold. It features Richard Z Kruspe, one of the guitarists of Rammstein
Total BS..
The fact he say "It is lacquer painted onto an aluminum disc, with a spiral etched into it by music (…) which can be heard by putting a stylus into the spiral and spinning it.” instead of saying it's like a vinyl record to decribe it rings the bulls**t bell for me. Please call a spade a spade.
i don't mind jump cuts in videos since it makes it more concise. but your cutting in mid sentences. which sounds kinda choppy. 1:58
Thanks for the debunk job my friend. Can't say as I was even remotely tempted, though. What blows me away is how many people fall for this kind of hype when it's a somewhat famous old white dude peddling it.
Isn't this another way to scam pretentious audiophiles and vinyl supremacists.
I lost interest in your opinion when you defined harmonic character as distortion
It just sounds like vinyl but a stronger material, just sounds like it will be more resilient, see no reason it would sound better. It also sounds like it's trying to be far too premium and exclusive.
For me it reminds me of laserdisc. Laserdisc had analog music and analog video on a 12" CD like disc, which also uses a laser to read.
My first thought was that it's the same as a laserdisc
The only thing that puts vinyl above digital is not inherent to the format itself, vinyl has better dynamic range because it HAS to be mixed and mastered quietly in order to be heard (grooves and all). Digital could also be mastered quietly but it's usually not because of the loudness wars, more dynamic range equals more detail and better overall quality since mastering loud in digital also causes distortion, however if you were to master a track quietly in a high quality digital format like WAV, FLAC, or 320kps MP3 then it would hands down sound better than a vinyl mastered the same way.
basically it's not the vinyl itself but the way it's mixed and mastered, everything else about how "vinyl is superior" is just format fetishization.
great video 🤞🏽
Sounds like a good 'ol grift
If it's just vinyl records but not made of plastic that would be cool, I'm tired of plastic everything everywhere all the time.
