I think its great how far Google has gone as far as showing best results. The users block in itself is a good addition as well. Kudos to Google and I hope you all come up with better updates for better user experience.
Ahh you caught me adithecool. There are few things I enjoy in life more than cooking my pseudoephedrine and watching SEO videos (and who doesn’t??). Great observation though, he does somewhat explain what “thought process” goes into the ranking signal. Unfortunately that wasn’t the question. The user question was “to what extent is the data used” yet the question Google decided to answer was “is the data used”.
I love how Google can make video after video without actually saying anything new.
Q: To what extent is the data from Google's relatively new 'block results from this domain' SERP feature being used as a ranking signal?
A: Yes we use it, and we like it.
I don't think it's as simple as that. It's only 1 of hundreds of ranking signals. I think Google will be looking for much higher blocking volumes than just a few. They'll be examining the number and frequency of the blocks over an extended period of time. If you organised a bunch of people to suddenly start blocking a site, that's going to look weird. If the blocks don't sit well with other signals, it's probably reviewed by a human.
Good ! Some cheap negative SEO !! :'(
Is this Blocking ability mentioned in this video from the Chrome Extension only. Or, is the ability to block rolled out publicly as long as someone logs into their Google account? I only see the option to block with the Chrome Extension. Please Advise. Thanks!
