i just want a good producer who gives a fuck :')
I'm not even in a band, using this for inspiration for collaborations with people I'm close friends with
Amen! There’s a reason my current musical project has been reduced to just myself and an old bandmate drummer, whom I’ve had a previous working relationship with. When I tried to unpack what I called the “Prince” approach to production, that is, throw everything and anything you can think of at the song (in an attempt to see what sticks), and then peel back the layers from there, I got a lot of confused looks mixed with impulsive criticisms; which I took to heart to improve the song(s) anyway. Haha, maybe you need to address the value of experience and tenure in writing music, so as to help those who may be naive and even a bit narcissistic? Even though I’ve been writing and performing music since I was 13, I got an earful about how the “pros” do it…and, yet, here you are…spelling out the process I’ve had to learn through a lot of trial and error🤦🏻♂️ And…I’m thankful to learn from pros like you!
