How to Redirect Users to a Random Post in WordPress

Do you want to show random posts on your WordPress site? Displaying the random posts gives your users a chance to view more of your content on your site that they normally may not have. In this video, we’ll show you how you can easily redirect your users to a random post in WordPress.

For this tutorial we will be using the plugin ‘Redirect URL to Post’ found here:

Redirect URL to Post

With that plugin installed and activated you will see information about the shortcode and other URL parameters, you can use to set up links to random posts on your site. You can use any of the parameters you like or there is also a shortcode that we use in the video. The shortcode is below and will create a button that redirects for you.

[redirect_to_post_button]

The shortcode can be added to the end of your posts or pages so users have the option to use it when they reach the end of your article. Another method would be to use your widgets and add the shortcode into a text widget. That way it will appear on every page your widget displays on and you don’t need to manually add it to every post and page on your site.

  1. great tip ! i've been following your great website for a while now. quick question : is there a way to insert this Random button in our menu bar ?

  2. Hi,
When I publish new posts, mr subscribers receive the full post in their emails. I want to change this do that they receive excerpts of the post and click on read more which takes them to my website.

If they can read all the post in their email, they won't have any reason to visit my website to read more. How do I change this.? Fo you have a video that will show me how? Thank you.
